International Negotiation

Every business starts with negotiation about its terms. The more effort you devote to this stage, the higher the chance that your international venture will run smoothly. International trade has its own specifics, including delivery terms, insurance, financing and risk allocation. It is a smart idea to be accompanied or represented during important meetings by a professional who will assist you to get the best deal possible and will not forget to discuss anything important.

I often deal with these issue during negotiation in international business:

  • how to secure a payment and/or delivery of goods from abroad
  • what happens in case of defective delivery
  • how to transport the goods
  • who will be responsible for the customs duties
  • how the goods have to be packaged and labeled

My previous experiences include:

  • negotiating terms for the construction of a solar power plant in Bulgaria
  • negotiating the purchase of several large commercial farms comprising agricultural land, forests and ponds in the Czech Republic by Austrian bio-agriculture enterprises
  • negotiation with the U.S. authorities about the establishment of a U.S. based branch for a Czech private university
